Dollar Tree Book Haul: January 2017

by - 8:00 PM

Honestly, I always thought there was a bit of a stigma against books found at the dollar store. Unlike the one's you'd find at a thrift shop, I stupidly assumed that the one's marked for $1 were just not good enough to be marked full price.

I can't remember where I got that idea from, but I still check out the dollar store book section anyways. Occasionally, it's for pages to make my paper roses, but this time, I struck gold!

The Writing Circle
I don't know why, but I thought that I had heard of The Writing Circle before. It must have been recommended to me at some point or another, but I couldn't help reaching for it on the bookshelf. Either way, both the cover and the synopsis intrigued me and I decided to give it a try!

Toxic
If you've kept up to date with any of my previous Perfectly Ambitious book hauls, then you know that I'm slowly trying to collect all of the Pretty Little Liars novels by Sara Shepard. Currently, I now have three of them! Toxic is number 15 in the series and I was honestly shocked to find not one copy, but two at my local Dollar Tree! I can't wait to find the rest of the series and get to reading!

The Stolen Ones
As I was searching through the books at the dollar store, I came across The Stolen Ones. I passed it over a few times, but I kept coming back to it. Although it isn't my usual genre, I couldn't help but feel pulled in by the book's description. I guess it sparked the part of me that always wanted to be a crime scene investigator :) I honestly can't wait to get my hands on this one!

Love Birds
When I was a resident assistant at my university, my supervisor had us fill out a bunch of personality tests to figure out how we could work best together as a staff. One of the tests including figuring out our love language and I had a feeling that Love Birds would be similar to that. And since I could always learn a little bit more about myself, I figured I'd pick it up. I mean, it was only a dollar, so why not?!

And We Stay
I hadn't heard of Jenny Hubbard or her previous work before, but I was intrigued by the cover of And We Stay. I've got a love for covers full of contrast and this one definitely fit the bill! And of course the  fact that book is in verse and prose didn't hurt either! I've considered writing something that combines the two, but I wasn't sure how to do it. So, I figured I'd give this book a try and see how Jenny did it! I might just have to get her other book, Paper Covers Rock, too!

And crazy enough, I picked up all of these books for just $5.45! Ultimately, I ended up saving $85.51!

Have you read any of these books before? What did you think of them? I'd love to hear your thoughts in the comments!
