Thrift Books Book Haul: February 2017

by - 8:00 PM

After chatting with one of the other Navy wives at a sweet two year old's birthday, we got onto the topic of books. I had told her about my most recent book haul with Jet.com and how much I managed to save, and she shared her experience with me regarding ThriftBooks

I had heard a lot about them, but I hadn't actually shopped with them before. Over course, I'd never turn down a chance to buy new books, so I thought I'd give them a shot! Here's what I ended up getting during my first shopping trip!

Love is a Hammer
This book is the real reason that I ended up looking into ThriftBooks. I had learned that my very own chiropractor had self-published his own book and I wanted to get a copy of it! I had checked my usual sites, but I couldn't find what I was looking for. Luckily though, Thriftbooks had it!

Twisted Fate
After finding Love is a Hammer, I figured I should keep looking, mostly to meet the free shipping minimum. It took a while to weed through the selection, but eventually I found Twisted Fate. I've recently had an interest in psychological thrillers, so I decided to give this one a try! I haven't read anything from Nora Olsen before, but I'm excited to get my hands on this one!

Ketchup Clouds
I've gotta admit, the title pulled me in along with the cover! Once I read the synopsis though, I knew I had to get myself a copy! Ketchup Clouds has everything that I'm looking for in a story and I'm beyond excited to finally read it! It's not something that I would have normally been on the look out for, but I guess that's the power of a books title/cover art!

Dear Bully: Seventy Authors Tell Their Story
One of the prompts for this year's reading challenge, #ICBReadingChallenge2017, is to read a book with multiple authors. I'm not sure how I ended up coming across this one, but I figured Dear Bully would be one of the best choices to complete the challenge. Since I've been bullied myself, I was instantly drawn to it. Plus, it features some of my favorite authors!

Willow
After searching through more of the young adult novels, I came across Willow. The cover intrigued me and the synopsis did too! I love books that depict a character dealing with a mental or physical illness and I think this one fits the bill. I can't wait to see how Willow deals with the tragedy of her parents death and the life-changing relationship that is headed her way!

Tithe: A Modern Faerie Tale
When I was a resident assistant, my supervisor and I often spoke about books. Every once in a while, we traded some of our favorites and she let me borrow this one! I absolutely loved it, but I never actually bought myself a copy; so when I saw it on ThriftBooks, I knew I had to get it!

Valiant: A Modern Faerie Tale
I remembered that Tithe had a sequel and I was quick to look for it! Luckily, they had a couple copies left and I was more than eager to snag one for myself. I hadn't actually read the second book before, so that made me want Valiant even more!

Ironside: A Modern Faery's Tale (Modern Faerie Tale)
Imagine my surprise when I realized that Tithe didn't only have a sequel, but there was a third book in the series too! So of course, I had to get myself Ironside as well! I was a little disappointed that the quality ranking wasn't as high as the other used books I was purchasing, but I didn't want to miss out on having the whole series. So, I picked up the best one they had available and added it to my cart! I can't tell you guys who excited I am to read the whole series together!

And crazy enough, I picked up all of these books for just $26.78! Ultimately, I ended up saving $84.11 with ThriftBooks

Have you read any of these books before? What did you think of them? I'd love to hear your thoughts in the comments!
